Romans 12:2 tells us, “Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”
In other words, God has a plan for your life, but you’ll never attain it with the same attitudes and mindsets. Transforming the mind is an important step in growth. To be transformed is an individual decision to submit to God, resist the temptation of the world and do life God’s way. To be transformed may challenge what’s comfortable but because of love for God, nothing is off limits. Maybe before Christ you deemed pre-marital sex as normal. To be transformed is to see what God has to say about it and decide His Word has final authority in your life.
To transform the mind requires time and effort. You don’t automatically morph into transformation, you use the Word of God to know God’s will, God’s character and God’s pleasure then you submit to it. When you are transformed, you can no longer respond to life and situations in life the way you did before Christ. The world’s standards are no longer the guide to life, God is.
The benefit to being transformed is you’ll know God’s good, pleasing and perfect will, and who doesn’t want that?
