Dear Woman of Passion!
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.”
John 8:36, NKJ
A stronghold is just as the name implies. It’s a habit, sin or struggle that holds us, with great strength, from holiness, a righteous resolve, and/or commitment. It’s a bondage that you thought you were free from, like a weed you thought you were rid of. It’s a stronghold, severed only by the power of the blood, your will and your word.
I’m talking about strongholds today because it’s the one thing that can destroy your fresh start in 2014. It ruins sincere initiative, distracts from commitment, and can demoralize a person enough to accept defeat. Strongholds entice the flesh. It’s the seduction of alcohol or drugs, sexual pleasure, self-pity and any other barrier to your walking in the freedom Christ provides. Some are aware of the grip but can’t break free, while some are oblivious to satanic oppression.
Women of passion be free! No one is absolved from the attack of the enemy, buteveryone who names the name of Christ is more than a conqueror over him!
Jesus died so that we can be free from every attack, and that includes the stronghold. You must be confident in the blood enough to plead it over your mind, your will, your imaginations, your emotions and your intellect. When you plead the blood you are rejecting the stronghold’s influence and the condemnation that comes with it. You’re placing confidence in the work of Christ and trusting in His provision that the blood cleanses our conscience from acts that lead to death (Hebrews 9:14, NIV) and it enables us to receive the promise of freedom.
Secondly, when the stronghold’s grip seems to tighten, you must also intensify your surety of His Word, because you’re under attack. Immerse yourself in God’s Word as a reminder of consequences (For instance, “Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”Galatians 6:8), and for the sake of defense. Jesus defeated temptation in Matthew 4:1 by saying what is written. You cannot win by sheer will power, but you can win by a willingness to remain in truth. When the stronghold is trying to consume you, declare what is written. Your will surrendered to the power of His word means victory every time.
Finally, never act helpless or even passive towards a stronghold. My sister, you have the ability to pull down strongholds! That’s right, you can resist! “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…” (2 Corinthians 10:3-5, NIV) You have the authority to cancel the assignment of the devil to steal from you, kill you and destroy you. What you permit or deny access is how you exercise your authority.
Finally, fall at the cross. Renounce secret and shameful ways (2 Corinthians 4:2) and pray Psalm 19:13-14, “Cleanse me from secret faults, keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me. Then shall I be blameless, and I shall be innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” (NKJ) The Lord is near when you’re broken and He saves those who are contrite in spirit. (Psalm 34:18)
A little long today, but I pray helpful.
Never stay down woman of passion! To beat a stronghold, you have to love God more than you love what has come to steal from you.
We’re women of passion, purpose and priority making the day count!
