Holy Spirit

As Christians we serve the Triune God. God is Father, Spirit and Son. In most circles, the Father and the Son are talked about but somehow, Holy Spirit is neglected, and much of the body dismisses His work in the life of those yielded to receive from Him. It is my hope that you will allow Holy Spirit to have His work in your life just as you have received our Father and His Son.

Holy Spirit has many roles in the life of the believer. Luke 10:21 tells us He gave Jesus joy. In chapter 11, we’re told Holy Spirit would come upon those who ask Him. John 14:26 defines Holy Spirit as a counselor who will teach and remind you of what to say. In Acts (1:8), we’re told He gives power so we are witnesses. In Acts 20:23, Holy Spirit gave warning to Paul.

2 Corinthians speaks to our having fellowship with Holy Spirit and then in Acts 2:4 we read that we can be filled with Holy Spirit (which is to speak in other tongues and is available to every believer). Then in 1 Corinthians 12:7 we see the gifts Holy Spirit offers the body of Christ (Such as: Word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healings, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, different kinds of tongues and to another the interpretation of tongues—all of which are distributed within the church body).

From these scriptures and the many more not mentioned, we can surmise, Holy Spirit has a role in the life of the believer if the believer will accept Him. His presence in our lives can make our fellowship and decision for Christ so much the sweeter.

Before Jesus ascended to Heaven, he told his disciples that he would send them another Helper, and that Helper is the Holy Spirit. Why do we deny and ignore the one who is suppose to help us in our Christian walk? Holy Spirit is here to help us, but he is also here to teach us.

Holy Spirit is our helper. He was given to us so we don’t have to succumb to human nature or the flesh. Galatians 5:19-21 lists the pitfalls the flesh offers us. With the help of Holy Spirit, we don’t have to live like this and “not inherit the kingdom of God.”

If God offers a gift to the believer why would we deny the gift? Receive Holy Spirit and learn more about who He is and His role in your life. You’ll be so glad you did!
