Now that you have a better understanding of what has happened to you and who’s you are there are several key steps that you should follow to establish your faith and spiritual foundation. These key steps will help you to grow spiritually and maximize your success in Christ.
The first step to growth or maturity is to acknowledge the need to grow. Making the decision for Christ is just that, it’s a decision to begin life with a new mindset, new approach to life. Life doesn’t end it just changes from what you were accustomed. Before Christ, you were trained by the standards, examples and experiences set before you. Now that you’re in Christ, training must come from Him. If you bought a new DVD player, you wouldn’t go to the iPhone manual for directions on how it’s used. Neither would you use an old DVD manual for an updated unit. Let’s apply the same principle: In Christ, we must go to the manual for truths that will redefine life as we know it and offer resources for spiritual development.
The Bible is the manual God has given to the believer. “All Scripture is God –breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” 2Timothy 3:16 (NIV) It’s from the Bible that we receive direction for spiritual growth.
STUDY: (Answer In Your Own Words)
2 Timothy 2:15 Do I study the Bible to prove how saved I am?
1 Timothy 1:3-7 Is study for the sake of scriptural debate?
GOOD VERSE TO MEMORIZE: “Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity….” Hebrews 6:1, NIV
